Clover Blossom
author unknown
In a sunny, happy meadow,
Where the flowers dance and play,
Beneath a sky so bright and blue,
They greet the cheerful day.
Tall trees wave their leafy arms,
And the breezes laugh and sing,
While a bubbling brook flows gently,
Making music as it swings.
The birds chirp sweetly from the branches,
Their songs fill the fragrant air,
And the sun beams down like a golden smile,
On the flowers blooming there.
In this garden full of colors,
Where everything feels just right,
The flowers bloom, both bright and beautiful,
From morning until night.
One morning, as they stretched and yawned,
With petals soft and fair,
A tiny worm came crawling by,
And said, “Please, may I share?”
“Oh, please be kind,” the worm did plead,
“I’m lonely, weak, and small;
I just need a little spot to rest,
I promise, I won’t take up much room at all!”
“I’m not as pretty as you flowers,”
The worm sighed with a frown,
“But inside my cozy little shell,
A lovely secret can be found!
Let me rest here in the soft green moss,
And sleep until it’s spring.
When I wake up, I’ll look so grand,
With the prettiest wings to bring!”
But the proud wild rose shook her thorns,
And the daisy turned away,
The violet hid beneath the leaves,
And scornfully went to play.
“Oh no!” said the grass, “You’ll harm our leaves!
So you can’t stay, oh dear!”
Then a gentle voice called out,
And the flowers turned to hear.
“Come here, little worm,” said a sweet clover flower,
“Where the sun is warm and bright,
You can rest in my lovely spot,
And I’ll make your bed just right.”
The flowers looked up with wide eyes,
At the clover’s kind, soft face;
While the worm felt hope begin to bloom,
In this cozy, sunny place.
“Here by me in the mossy bed,
You’ll find peace and rest,”
Said Clover, her leaves swaying gently,
“Sleep tight, my little guest.
Though you may not look lovely, dear worm,
You have a heart of gold,
And friendship blooms in every shape,
For kindness never grows old.”
So deep in her cozy mossy bed,
The grateful worm lay still,
While Clover watched and cared for him,
With a love that was strong and real.
The autumn leaves began to fall,
And the flowers turned to sleep,
But Clover stayed by the worm’s side,
In her watchful, faithful keep.
When spring returned with bright sunlight,
And the flowers woke with cheer,
Clover waited for her friend,
For she knew springtime was near.
“Look!” cried Daisy, “The worm is coming!
He’s back in the sky so blue!”
But when the flowers saw the butterfly,
They laughed and said, “Oh, it’s true!
That worm was nothing but a trickster,
He just wanted a place to hide!”
But Clover stood tall with hope in her heart,
For she knew her friend had tried.
The butterfly floated down from the sky,
And each flower called out with glee,
But he went straight to Clover’s side,
And said, “Dear friend, it’s me!
Thank you for waiting all this time,
For your love has made me bright.
Now I will dance and flutter by,
And share my joy and light!”
With that, the butterfly and Clover
Lived together in the sun,
In a meadow full of laughter,
Where their friendship had just begun.
So remember, little friends,
Be kind to all you meet,
For inside every heart, no matter how small,
There’s a friendship sweet and neat!
